Roulette variants

There are three fundamental styles of roulette; American, European and French.

American Roulette This is played with a wheel having two zero slots, which augments the house edge.

European Roulette This is played with a single zero wheel and the same betting layout as the American version.

French Roulette This is played with a single zero wheel. Though the appearance of the layout is different for the "outside" bets, the rules of betting remain the same.

Additionally, some casinos introduce betting variables, such as that found in the game of Progressive Roulette, which features increased payouts for consecutive wins on the same number. The increase for each successive win varies between casinos; what does not vary is that to be eligible to win the progressive jackpot, generally awarded upon one's winning on the same number five times in a row, one must place a "Progressive" bet of a casino-determined amount, which wager is above and beyond one's normal bet(s) in a progressive game.
