Baccarat strategy

We have already told you that there is no useful baccarat strategy. Though there are a number of popular betting systems which are widely used by casino players.


Martingale

The Martingale system is one of the oldest and most popular betting systems. The system was devised for even-money games, and while it was devised for roulette, it has also been adapted for blackjack and baccarat. Use Martingale only when you bet on the player or the banker. After you lose an even-money bet, double your bet until you win. When you win, you have to return to the first bet.

Labouchere

The player who uses this system adjusts his bet to the outcome of the previous hand. The bet is raised after losses and decreased after wins, but by a more complicated system than used in the Martingale.

First you have to choose a sequence of numbers, for example, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Each number shows the amount in units or chips to bet. Then you make a bet that is the sum of the first and last numbers (in this example, 1+6 = 7). If this hand wins, 1 and 7 are taken away and the next bet is again the sum of the first and last numbers, this time 2+5 = 7. If the hand (1+6) loses, the whole lost bet is added to the end of the sequence (you add 7 to 1,2,3,4,5,6 and you get 1,2,3,4,5,6,7) and then make the next bet that is 8 (1+7). When the numbers are over, this series ends.

D'Alembert

The D'Alembert is a simple betting system, which is based on the Martingale with a few tiny changes. This system tells you to raise your bet one unit after you have lost and lower the bet by one unit if you win.

For example, you're playing baccarat where a $5 is minimum bet (that is one "unit"). So, you start by placing a bet of $5. After the loss, your next bet will be $10 that is 2 units. If you win, the bet will be $5. If you lose the second hand your bet will be $15. If this hand wins, you bet $10, so you lower only by one unit, and not to return to the original bet.

Fibonacci

The Fibonacci betting system is based on the Fibonacci Sequence, which was developed by Leonardo Pisan, the Italian mathematician. The sequence is following: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89 and so on. As you probably see, the next number in the row is the sum of the two previous numbers. Using the Fibonacci, you start from 1 unit bet. If the first hand wins, there is no sequence and you will bet 1 unit again. If the first hand loses, then you bet 1 unit again.If there is a loss again, the next bet will be 2 units. You lose again so your next bet will be 3 and so on. If you win, you should cross out the last 2 numbers in the sequence. The sequence ends when you have returned to a 1 unit bet.

1-3-2-6

The 1-3-2-6 Baccarat System is the system which determines how much money to stake each hand. 1, 3, 2, and 6 are the numbers showing how many units you have to wager on each hand. A unit is certain amount of money you decide to bet.

According to the strategy you have to bet 1 unit on the first hand. If you win this hand, you have to wager 3 units on the second hand.

If you win again you have to wager 2 units. And if you win the third hand you have to wager 6 units. If you win all 4 hands you will get 12 units as the pure profit.

Paroli

The Paroli system ups the ante when you're winning. It takes advantage of hot streaks on even-money bets. Use this system only when you're betting with the banker or the player (which you should be doing most of the time, if not all of the time). The Paroli system's objective is to cut your losses quickly and let your winnings ride. Remember that this system applies only to even-money bets.

  1. When you win, double your next wager.
  2. When you lose, bet the first wager.

The system doesn’t require betting big money. You can set betting limits and don’t exceed it while having a winning streak.

You never know when a winning streak stops.


Parlay

The Parlay is a progressive betting system similar to the Paroli system, so it is a positive progression system the aim of which is to build or pyramid your profits.

If the player wins his next bet is made up of his winnings and the initial bet and does the same on each following winning hand. If he loses he returns to his initial bet.

The Parlay system is usually called the "Let it Ride" system because when the player wins he leaves his winnings and let them ride to the following hand.

To understand better how the Parlay system works, let's take an example. You playing baccarat put an initial bet of $10. You win, meaning you are paid $10 on your $10 bet plus your original bet. The Parlay tells you to use your win ($10) and your original bet ($10), so you bet $20 on the next hand.

If you continue winning, you stick to the same betting pattern. After a loss, you have to return to the original bet.

1 ⇒ win ⇒ 1 + 1 ⇒ win ⇒ 2 + 2 ⇒ lose ⇒ 1

Using the Parlay you'd better set a max bet limit before you begin playing. If a streak of luck ends you can lose a large bet unless you quit beforehand.
