The Adventure of a Lifetime…?
When you think of Adventure Palace, chances are high you’re thinking of something luxurious…like, say a Palace. In this Microgaming slot of the same name, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, Adventure Palace is a jungle-themed slot, so I’m not exactly sure how they came up with the name.
Nevertheless, this 5-reel, 9-payline slot pays out a top prize of 10,000 coins in game, with a decent RTP at 96.1%.
The reels are packed with exotic animals and symbols, including cobras, peacocks and a variety of other wildlife. I suppose in some respects it’s like an adventure into the jungle, but whatever their reasons for these graphics, it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the slot too much.
I don’t play Adventure Palace too often, simply because there are only so many hours in the day – and a lot of slots to get through. But as far as this slot itself is concerned, it’s fun to play on an ongoing basis, even if some players do report getting a little cheesed off with the soundtrack over time.As a Microgaming title, you know before you play this game that it’s going to be decent – both in terms of the features, and the wins available. While it’s an earlier slot that pales in comparison to the features on some of their newer, blockbuster games, there’s still more than enough to sink your teeth into.
I’ve had a few decent spins on this game, and the free spins feature is quite easy to retrigger, sometimes leading to 30-45 free spins in one sitting. You’ll trigger this pretty often, but I’ve seen inconsistent results from these free spins – just because it’s free, doesn’t mean you’ll definitely win. Nevertheless, it helps keep things interesting as you play through this cartoon-jungle slot.
Let’s firstly start by looking at the symbols you’ll find adorning your reels, and the respective features they trigger, and the wins they have to offer. From there, we’ll sweep through minimum/maximum bets per spin, and the jackpots available, to help you make up your mind on whether to take this slot for a spin.
Adventure Palace Symbols: Are You Feeling Adventurous?
There are free spins up for grabs as we’ve already mentioned, and you trigger these by landing three or more of the game’s scatter symbols. The scatter is the palace symbol, which looks faintly like the Taj Mahal nestled in amongst the jungle. There’s also a nice animation confirming this is the scatter, in case you were in any doubt. Landing the scatters gets you a nice wad of 15 free spins, plus a 3x multiplier that’s in force for the duration of your spins. They are also retriggerable as well, so you can quickly find yourself with 30, 45 or even 60 consecutive free spins if you get particularly lucky – all with that juicy 3x multiplier in place to bump up your winnings.
The elephant symbol is the wild, switching in for missing symbols to complete your payline with a 2x multiplier. In the style of the games other animations, he’ll also blink his eyes and give a celebratory toot of the trunk to recognise your achievements.
Once you get to the end of a winning spin, there’s a further option to gamble if you want to, for up to 4x on your winnings. It’s the usual choose a card format, where you have to predict the colour and then the suit of the card. If you get the colour right, you still walk away with 2x, but if you guess incorrectly, you’ll lose your winnings and return to the main game screen.
A Palace of Bets and Jackpots
The bets on Adventure Palace range from a lowly £0.05 right up to £90, with the main jackpot standing at 10,000x – or £900,000 maximum win. Especially when the free spins start firing, it becomes much more likely that you can walk away with a decent amount in your bankroll. In order to win the jackpot 10,000 coins, you need to hit 5 of the elephant wilds to trigger the win.
Even if you fall short, four elephants are worth 2000x, while there are 750x prizes available for landing either five tigers or marmosets – or monkeys if you prefer.
The RTP of this game sits towards the higher end of the scale, so you can expect to be in line for decent wins if the odds are on your side. I’ve not yet hit a jackpot myself, but I can tell you that there have been some decent paying wins, which seem to come along all at once.
Our Verdict on Adventure Palace
I wouldn’t say this is my favourite Microgaming slot of all time, nor does it come close. But that doesn’t mean I don’t recommend you check it out – you should, because there may be some elements of the game like its simplicity that appeal to your preferences.
For me, the theme and the graphics are a little disappointing, and this is backed up in the way the game plays. Without too many extra features, I get tired of this game much sooner than I would with some other slots. However, it does still have a lot going for it, not least an RTP of 96.1% which puts it firmly in the top half of the leaderboard as far as slots payouts are concerned.
Of course, because it’s a Microgaming game, there’s already that assumption of quality built in. Maybe it’s because I expect so much of Microgaming that I find elements of this game disappointing. On the plus side, the free spins can be a good way to inflate your winnings, and if you find yourself in line for a jackpot, you’ll certainly have a smile on your face.
If I were you, I’d want to check this game out further. It’s definitely worth a spin or two, even if just to see whether or not it’s your cup of tea.
