PlayTech History

Playtech was established in 1999 by a group of entrepreneurs consisted of casino, software engineering, and multimedia specialists. Thanks to competent marketing strategy the company quickly occupied the leading positions in the industry. The deep analysis of the online market disclosed industry’s weaknesses and drawbacks and the company found its own niche in it.

In 2001 Club Dice casino was launched with innovative features of version 1.1 of Playtech’s client software. They included player comp points, transaction histories, a VIP club, real time game, multi-platform compatibility and a multiplayer mode. Also Playtech launched Swiss Casino, the first big deal with an existing online casino. That time Playtech’s software version 1.2 appeared with 6 new games including progressive jackpots and multi-line slots. Club Dice casino was named one of the top ten online casinos by Jupiter Media Metrix.

2002 started with the release of Tropez and Gold Gate casinos that used ‘new generation’ client software of Playtech. In summer the company launched live online support, a compulsive gambling prevention tool, refer-a-friend bonus programs, and innovative games such as Blackjack Switch and Multi-Line Multi-Spin Slots.

In 2003 Playtech launched live internet gaming, the new innovative gambling option featuring real time playing with live dealers. The company turned their eyes towards Asian online market.

Next year Playtech strengthened its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and launched the iPoker network.

In 2006 the company launched Videobet that offers a complete land-based gaming platform for those operators who want to make their operations more efficient. This year the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange admitted Playtech shares valuing the company at nearly £548 million.
