Bodog Casino Has Become BodogLife

Friday, 21 September, 2007

The Bodog.com site is a well-known one with many online players. The website has been well visited since it launched and offers a great range of online gambling games. The Bodog casino (also featuring a sports betting section and a poker room for online players) is about to change its name now. Changing the name of a successful online casino website is not without risk. Any company can never be certain that players will come back to a renamed site.

Bodog.com will start using a new website domain ‘BodogLife’ after a ruling in court in two different American courts in the states of Washington and Nevada Bodog was forced to let go of its initial name. The Technology Company LLC brought claims that were connected to patent infringement to court regarding the Bodog name the judges ruled in the favor of the LLC.

Bodog released a statement that explains the matter to let online players know why the company is now switching over to the new BodogLife name. They used NewBodog for some time until that web domain name was hijacked due to a complicated patent dispute. Bodog does need some time to come up with a new name which was not to be interpreted as an infringement on other existing casino website names and is currently happy to announce BodogLife.com.

The matter certainly caused tension inside the company. Instead of being able to centre on developing exciting quality casino environments for their site they had to worry about domain names. The staff of 1000 people has come through and pulled together in order to keep the company strong during the legal ordeal.

The fact that in this matter Bodog pulled through is extraordinary. In any similar event an online gambling website would be probably to suffer from the publicity in the mass media and payers might lose interest if an online site is to be renamed or the brand name of the gambling company is changed considerably. Bodog is convinced its quality games and its staff professionalism were an important factor in the process. Now the number of players who visit BodogLife is growing every day.

Rival Gaming Launched New Online Slot Machines

Monday, 17 September, 2007

Recently the Rival Gaming has introduced the new i-Slot online slot. This new addition to slot machines features a game ‘Hole-in-Won’. It is an interactive slot developed to offer something new in the online gambling world. The i-Slots games look different from regular online slots and the Rival Company has just released four new slot machines of this kind.

Rival has just introduced the following games: Reel Crime, As the Reels Turn, Hole in Won.

The exciting new “Hole-in-Won” slot features a second screen bonus round for those players who have been on the slot machine for a while and in addition to a thrilling game there is a storyline connected to the slot. Therefore not only are players concentrating on the game and winnings but also on the storyline presented as a soap opera. Every new story scene is introduced on a regular basis and Rival Gaming is sure that players will be waiting eagerly for every new episode. Cliff-hangers in the stories will keep every casino player entertained.

There is a casino slot machine bonus activated if a player manages to get three scatters on the reels and the attached game appears. In the bonus game the player has to hit a golf ball into a hole and if they can do this they start another part of the game. In general there are 9 holes in the game attached to the slot. Playing this slot a good player could win up to 37,500 slot coins that is $18,000,00.

There is also a wild symbol in the game. If the symbol appears on the second or fourth reel, this means that the wild will expand automatically all over the reel from top to bottom resulting in turning any winning combination into a winner.

More and more casinos are trying to find ways to keep players going back and it seems Rival has found a nice way to accomplish this. With additional gaming features and storylines people feel they are doing more than simply playing an online slot.

Tumultuous Week Sees Bodog Lose Domain Name, Switch to NewBodog.com

Monday, 3 September, 2007

It was undeniably a long and strange week for billionaire Calvin Ayre and his flagship online casino, sports book and poker room, Bodog.com.

Confused Bodog members around the world woke up this Tuesday to find the usual Bodog.com domain completely inaccessible.

Speculation of course ran rampant across the internet gambling chat rooms as to the who and what behind the shut down, and an already skittish online community wondered if this was yet another move on the part of the United States Department of Justice.

The mystery was solved less than 12 hours later, however, when a new domain – www.newbodog.com – was launched, offering virtually all of the same features of the original Bodog domain and allowing customers to log in to their accounts as usual.

The billionaire CEO himself then cleared up the issue to some degree with a statement posted on the new site:

“We are currently experiencing difficulties with the Bodog.com DNS registration and I wanted to let you know that until the issue is resolved we are directing all our players to www.newbodog.com, with little or no interruption to Bodog services.

“Bottom line: you can play at Bodog right now. Everything you see will be the same as what you are used to and we’ll resolve any minor glitches shortly.

“The problem is the direct result of a dispute over the ownership of the Bodog.com domain name. We are fighting this dispute and are confident that we will win. In the meantime, other than the change in URL, it is business as usual.â€

As more information was revealed throughout the week, a clearer picture of the issue emerged:

It turns out Bodog - and several other well known online gaming sites actually – had been sued by a company called 1st Technology LLC, which owns a patent on a process for taking wagers online.

The company claimed Bodog’s software infringes on that patent, and it was due damages. The issue had been pending for some time now, but became much more immediate as of August 1.
