PKR.com takes online poker to a new level. Regular poker client have been trying for quite some time to get a live feel to their poker tables. No one has really succeeded. The things that the standard poker rooms ad to get a real game touch are usually small things, like a voice that says fold and check, or that you see the table from a strange angel. Things that after a while just gets annoying.
PKR.com, on the other hand, has taken online poker a bit further. Now you sit in a real 3D environment, you are able to change camera angels and do all sorts of things with your player. This actually gives you a better presence at the table. Internet poker feels like the real deal for the first time in online poker history.
PKR.com says on their web site:”With its richly rendered 3D environments and emphasis on human interaction, PKR puts the soul into online poker. But it’s not just about graphics and interaction as PKR also offers all the poker features that you’ll find anywhere else plus a few more besides.”
PKR.com has not started offering real money games yet, but you can take a look at their web site at www.pkr.com, and play with play-money. An online poker game without any cash involved has never been this exiting.

Fed up with tournament poker on TV? One must admit that televised tournament poker isn’t that exiting anymore. The viewers usually just get to see a final table where there are a couple of small stacks and a few big ones. The blinds have sky-rocketed and the game has turned into a “crazy all-in festival.” The decisions players have to make are often just based on their hole cards and the huge blinds leave them with two options, all in or fold. That type of poker might be funny to watch for those who like to see huge pots and bad beats, but it is not that amusing for those who want to see action on the flop, turn and river.
One of the most popular poker shows on TV this last year has been GSN’s High Stakes Poker. This is not a poker show as we are used to see them. This is just what they say it is; it is high stakes poker, no more no less. The competitors buy in for a minimum of $100,000 and if they lose, they don’t lose a tournament buy in, they lose their own money. According to a lot of poker players this is what real poker is about. To quote Todd Brunson from the first season “many players win a lot of money in big tournaments just to lose them in the high-stakes cash-games.”
The first season of “High Stakes Poker” was a huge success and GSN are now back with a second season. We will see some of the stars form the first season such as, Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson, Sam Farha, Barry Greenstein , Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth (his blow up after a hand against Negreanu in the first season is already a TV classic.) They will now be joined by a couple of new, but familiar faces, like Mike Matusow, Erick Lindgren, John Juanda, Gus Hansen and Phil Laak just to mention a few.
This amazing line up of players combined with that A. J. Benza and Gabe Kaplan might be the best poker commentators around makes this something definitely worth watching.
High Stakes Poker airs on GSN every Monday at 9:00 – 10:00 PM, ET/PT.
