How would I go about finding out how safe they are?

There are a few things to look for: Do they have a gaming license? They should state who they are licensed by, usually a small place like Antigua and Barbuda or similar. Next, do they have payout reports available? A payout report tells you how much of the money they take in is given back as win money- these reports should be verified by an independent accounting firm! Lastly, make sure they have software from a reputable dealer with an independent website.
